My sister is visiting from Atlanta, for my birthday.
Last night we went to a taping of Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me!, one of our favorite NPR shows.
And guess who won Carl Kassell's voice on her answering machine?!
Adam Savage from Myth Busters played "Not My Job" and he got all the answers right.
He was playing for me! Woo HOO!
Gigantic thanks to my sister for getting them to put my name as the potential winner.

That is a wonderful birthday present. Your sister is awesome.
Now you have to figure out what you want Carl to say.
And I really hope you keep us updated on how the recording goes.
I'm glad you like your birthday present. Remember, I was only 7 or 8 when my parents when my parents first gave me that book. I didn't have a very sophisticated palate then.
I haven't cooked from that book in years, but when you visit, I'm going to make an entire meal from that book.
I don't doubt that one CAN make a whole meal from the cookbook this grrl can't live on meat, bread, and dessert alone.
Can I just point out that the only real vegetable dishes in that book are "Sunny Carrots" and "Tossed Green Salad?" I love you but I'm not eating "Scalloped Tomatoes."
I love the cookbook, I just don't think it's one that will provide my whole meal...
Come on! Live dangerously!
:-)
No.
I find this to be hilarious...considering what I've seen you eat at the VA State Fair.
Fine. I'll just make an entree from the cookbook.
1. It wasn't a meal (not really, anyway).
2. Your house is NOT the fair
3. I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about!
I *could* turn my house into a Fair.
Fried foods, handicrafts, and I could turn off the A/C so it'll be hot. Plus there's Annie, so there will be an animal.
Sheree, I almost drove off the road when when your name was given as the winner! I love Wait, Wait. I will be phoning, soon, but don't pick up 'cause I want to hear that message!
Happy Birthday!
