- All these folks were born on my birthday (ok, fine, I was born on their's): Harry S Truman, Toni Tenille, Melissa Gilbert. It's also the day Coca Cola was invented. Pretty cool, huh? What's even MORE cool is that the year I was born, it was also Mother's Day. So I was my mom's Mother's Day gift (and since I was born in the morning, she had all day to enjoy!).

Here's something that's been bothering me for some time: Is Mount Holyoke blue closer to Carolina Blue or Duke Blue Devils Blue?

A: Because the sky is Carolina Blue!
Carolina Blue is close to "powder" or "baby" blue. Duke blue is close to Royal.
So, Mount Holyoke Blue is closer to Carolina Blue.

Okay, here's the thing: like a good nerd, in the fall of '84 I bought myself all kinds of logo-ed junk at the bookstore. Only some of it wasn't junk, because the trashcan is over there, in the other room, 24 years later. And it's royal blue with "Mount Holyoke College" in white. So I figured MHC blue was officially royal blue. And while some team uniforms were light blue, didn't the crew team wear royal?
Then, a couple of year ago, my friend dragged me into the vintage clothing store that I never frequent, but she does, because she likes the jewelery. I gamely stare into the glass case, and, lo! : a light blue and silver charm with the MHC seal on it!
I adore it, and wear it as a necklace, but I always feel like the Carolina Blue is wrong.
(Did I ever tell you Dad went to Duke? They wouldn't take me, twice.)
